The ALERTS system described in this proposal is an advanced realtime surveillance system which represents a substantial advance in the state-of-the-art of nighttime surveillance. The application of a high powered Ionized Argon Laser to a helicopter airborne system is now substantiated through the development and flight tests of several single axis line scanners. The following are discussed: Performance analysis; Detailed equipment description; Aircraft installation; Maintainability; and Environmental testing.
