General Environments Corporation (GEC) of Springfield, Virginia was selected to participate in the FY73 Emission Factors Program by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). One hundred eighty privately owned light-duty vehicles from the metropolitan Newark, New Jersey area were tested for exhaust emission levels of total hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, oxides of nitrogen, light hydrocarbons, and aliphatic aldehydes according to the 1975 Federal Test Procedure. All vehicles were also tested for highway fuel economy and vehicles from 1972 through 1974 were tested for modal emissions.
