U.S. Customs and Border Protection is responsible for securing the Nation's borders while facilitating legitimate trade and travel. The agency often requires transportation services for illegal aliens apprehended at or between U.S. ports of entry. This includes medical escort, transport to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facilities, and transport to and from local jails and courts. The objective was to determine whether the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Transportation Program Management Office developed an effective plan to provide efficient and cost effective ground transportation for detainees.
