The report reviews all the research, development, qualification and evaluation studies and tests made on two types of parachutes designed for flight training in canopy release and used by the Army to train operational paratroopers. The equipment tested, corresponding to the two canopy release models now used by paratroopers, will enable them to get used to the psychologically stressing act of 'release' and will, therefore, contribute to reduction of the risk of accidents resulting from faulty execution of the emergency procedure.
