A novel superimposed fiber Bragg grating (FBG) structure with polarization-discriminating characteristics is demonstrated. By superimposing the FBGs onto a tilted fiber grating, simultaneous wavelength- and polarization-filtering are achieved and are tailored purely by grating parameters.
