JP 2011-51581A에 의해 개시된 크래쉬 박스보다도 내로버스트성을 더욱 높인 크래쉬 박스를 제공한다. 대향하여 배치된 한쌍의 코너부(32, 33)와, 80°이상 100°이하의 각도로 교차하여 배치된 다른 한쌍의 코너부(34, 35)를 구비하고, 또한 4각형의 기본 횡단면 형상을 구비하는 횡단면 형상을 가지는 금속제의 통체(31)로 구성되는 크래쉬 박스(30)이다. 코너부(32, 33)가 이루는 각도는 90°이상 150°이하임과 더불어 코너부(34, 35)가 이루는 각도는 30°이상 90°이하이다. 길이 방향으로 연장됨과 더불어 내부를 향하여 볼록해지는 복수의 홈부(36) 내지 홈부(39)를 가진다. 한쪽 단부(31a)측에 있어서의 통체(31)의 단면 둘레 길이는, 다른쪽 단부(3lb)측에 있어서의 통체(31)의 단면 둘레 길이보다도 작다. 기본 단면 형상을 구성하는 다각형의 대각선 중, 가장 긴 대각선과 가장 짧은 대각선의 비인 직사각형비(편평율)가, 통체(31)의 축방향의 위치에서 변화된다. 또한, 홈부(36) 내지 홈부(39)를 구성하는 대향하는 경사면의 높이가 상이함으로써, 한쪽 단부(31a)에 있어서의 횡단면을 구성하는 모든 변이, 다른쪽 단부(31b)에 있어서의 횡단면을 구성하는 대향변과 평행하게 형성된다.

Provided is a crash box having robustness higher than that discussed in JP 2011-51581 A. The crash box includes a metal tubular body of a rectangular basic cross-sectional shape having a pair of corner portions arranged oppositely and another pair of corner portions arranged to intersect at an angle of 80° or larger and 100° or smaller. An angle of the pair of corner portions (32 and 33) is set to 90° or larger and 150° or smaller, and an angle of the another pair of corner portions (34 and 35) is set to 30° or larger and 90° or smaller. One or more inwardly convex trench portions 36 to 39 extending in a longitudinal direction are provided. A cross-sectional peripheral length of the tubular body (31) in the one end side (31a) is shorter than a cross-sectional peripheral length of the tubular body (31) in the other end side (31b). An aspect ratio (flatness) between the longest one and the shortest one of diagonal lines of a polygon of the basic cross-sectional shape changes depending on a position on the axial direction of the tubular body (31). Opposite slope surfaces of the trench portions (36 to 39) have different heights, so that overall sides on the cross section in the one end (31a) are formed in parallel to the opposite sides on the cross section in the other end (31b).
