To provide a distance estimation device capable of improving estimation accuracy of a distance to an object represented in an image.SOLUTION: A distance estimation device includes: a storage section 22 that stores, for each of a plurality of types of a predetermined object, a reference size in a real space of the type; an object detection section 31 that detects the predetermined object represented in an image obtained by an imaging section 2 and calculates confidence representing likelihood that the detected predetermined object is the object of the type for each of the plurality of types; and a distance estimation section 32 that estimates a size in the real space of the predetermined object by weighted-averaging the reference size of each of the plurality of types by the confidence of the type, and estimates a distance to the predetermined object on the basis of a ratio between the size of the predetermined object detected on the image and an estimated size of the predetermined object on the image when a distance to the predetermined object is a predetermined reference distance which corresponds to the estimated size in the real space of the predetermined object.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
【課題】画像に表された物体までの距離の推定精度を向上できる距離推定装置を提供する。【解決手段】距離推定装置は、所定の物体についての複数の種類のそれぞれについて、その種類の実空間における基準サイズを記憶する記憶部２２と、撮像部２により得られた画像に表された所定の物体を検出するとともに、複数の種類のそれぞれについて検出されたその所定の物体がその種類の物体である確信度を算出する物体検出部３１と、複数の種類のそれぞれの基準サイズを、その種類の確信度で加重平均することで、その所定の物体の実空間でのサイズを推定し、推定したその所定の物体の実空間でのサイズに相当する、その所定の物体までの距離が所定の基準距離である場合の画像上でのその所定の物体の推定サイズと、画像上での検出されたその所定の物体のサイズとの比に基づいて、その所定の物体までの距離を推定する距離推定部３２とを有する。【選択図】図３
