PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve collision detection performance by a simple configuration.SOLUTION: An object is specified by an on-vehicle camera, a travel speed is obtained, and a relative speed between a vehicle and the object is detected (100 and 102). A speed range of a collision speed which is an operation object for an active device is expanded to a case where the relative speed is used, is expanded to an effective mass by the relative speed (104-110), and according to a speed range determination processing result and an effective mass determination processing result, the active device is operated (112). By using a relative speed for collision detection, speed range for collision determination can be expanded and collision detection accuracy can be improved by an effective mass using the relative speed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6

    【課題】衝突検出性能を簡単な構成で向上させる。【解決手段】車載カメラにより対象物を特定し、走行速度を求め、車両と対象物との相対速度を検出する(100,102)。アクティブディバイスの作動対象となる衝突速度の速度範囲を相対速度を用いる場合まで拡張し、また相対速度による有効質量まで拡張し(104〜110)、速度範囲判定処理結果と有効質量判定処理結果により、アクティブディバイスを作動する(112)。衝突検出に相対速度を用いることで、衝突判定のための速度範囲を拡張でき、また、相対速度を用いた有効質量により衝突検出精度を向上できる。【選択図】図6
