A wheel knuckle 7-1, for supporting a wheel 3-1 of a vehicle. The knuckle includes an upper member 15 for connection to a vehicle suspension; a hub 14 for supporting a bearing assembly; and a displacement control member 25 for promoting displacement of the upper member 15 towards the front of the vehicle when there is a frontal collision (e.g. rotation due to moment M, figures 4; 8). The control member 25 comprises a distal end 26 for positioning proximal to a rim of the wheel, the end disposed at a vertical height lower than a rotational axis R1 of the wheel. The control part 25 may be an extension of the track rod arm 19 that inclines downwardly toward the wheel rim or alternatively may extend from below the axis (see figure 8). The front surface of the control member may be arcuate (see figure 3). When a frontal collision occurs, the wheel rim is deformed and the distal end may engage the deformed wheel rim causing rotation of the knuckle and the arm 15 to swing forward. Also claimed is a hub assembly and vehicle including the knuckle.
