La présente invention concerne un procédé de gestion de circulation d'un premier véhicule (60) sur une voie ferrée (12) comprenant une intersection (13) d'au moins trois tronçons de voie (16, 17, 18). La voie ferrée comporte une zone de contrôle (34) et une zone tampon (46) incluant ladite intersection, la zone de contrôle étant délimitée par une borne (30) sur un premier (17) tronçon de voie, équipée d'un signal visuel (38) pour autoriser ou interdire la circulation. Le procédé comprend les étapes suivantes : - le signal visuel (38) étant dans un mode d'interdiction, détection (24) d'une entrée d'un deuxième véhicule (64) dans la zone de contrôle ; puis - lorsque le premier véhicule (60) est dans la zone tampon, un arrêt dudit premier véhicule est commandé jusqu'à une sortie du second véhicule de la zone de contrôle.
