The present disclosure provides a dual traction battery power system with a charge balancing circuit. A power system includes: an inverter; a pair of traction batteries electrically connected in series and jointly connected in parallel with the inverter; a plurality of switches, the plurality of switches being electrically connected in series and being commonly electrically connected in parallel with the traction battery and the inverter such that the switches are connected between the traction battery and the inverter; and one or more controllers programmed to operate the switches during charging of one of the traction batteries or operation of the inverter to balance a state of charge of the traction batteries.
