A system and method for fueling a vessel is disclosed. This method for fueling a vessel, wherein 1) excess liquefied gas is supplied to an engine (E) fueled with an incompressible fluid; 2) excess fuel remaining after use in the engine (E) and subsequently discharged from the engine (E) is cooled by the same heat exchange as the liquefied gas discharged from the storage tank (T); 3) returning the excess fuel subjected to heat exchange and cooling in step 2) to the storage tank (T) after being discharged from the engine (E); and 4) the liquefied gas used as the coolant for heat exchange in step 2) is supplied to the engine (E) after being discharged from the storage tank (T), and thus excess liquefied gas capable of adapting to a load change of the engine is supplied to the engine as fuel, thereby preventing engine cavitation.
