The invention provides a movable armrest assembly for a vehicle. A seating assembly of a row of seats of a vehicle includes: (a) a seat including a frame having an inboard side; and (b) an inboard armrest assembly, the inboard armrest assembly comprising: (i) a lower bracket attached to the inboard side of the frame of the seat; (ii) an upper bracket pivotally coupled to the lower bracket about a pivot axis extending generally from front to back; and (iii) a pad unit mounted on the upper bracket, the upper bracket having an inboard position and an outboard position, the outboard position being more outboard than the inboard position when an outboard force is applied to the upper bracket, the upper bracket transitioning around the pivot axis from the inboard position to the outboard position. The outboard force moves the cushion unit to the outboard position to prevent the inboard armrest assembly from protruding into a central aisle of the vehicle.
