The invention relates to a survey vessel for detecting sludge and a method for detecting sludge by using the survey vessel, the survey vessel comprises a vessel body; a positioning system and a control system are arranged on the vessel body, the positioning system is in communication connection with the control system, and the positioning system transmits a position signal to the control system and compares the position signal with a position signal set in the control system; a measuring device is arranged on the vessel body, the measuring device comprises a depth measuring probe and a depth measuring rope, and the depth measuring probe is in communication connection with the control system; the depth measuring rope is movably arranged on the vessel body in a lifting mode, a meter countingassembly is arranged on the vessel body, one end of the depth measuring rope stretches into water, and a weight is arranged at the end, stretching into the water, of the depth measuring rope. The control system controls the depth measuring probe to work, the current water depth h1 is measured, the descending length h2 of the depth measuring rope is measured through the meter counting assembly, then the thickness of sludge can be obtained by calculating the value obtained by subtracting h1 from h2, the steps of manual operation and recording are reduced, and the deviation of the measurement result is reduced.
