The invention discloses an intelligent traffic control system and a control method thereof. The intelligent traffic control system comprises a vehicle management unit and a cloud platform server, wherein the vehicle management unit comprises a vehicle information identification module, a driving direction identification module, an MCU control module and a vehicle speed control module; the MCU control module receives vehicle identity information sent by the vehicle information identification module and vehicle driving direction information sent by the driving direction identification module and sends the information to the cloud platform server; a data analysis module in the cloud platform server analyzes road condition information in the driving direction of a vehicle according to the received vehicle identity information and the received vehicle driving direction information, determines a driving speed threshold value of the vehicle according to the analyzed road condition information and sends the driving speed threshold value of the vehicle to the vehicle speed control module; the vehicle speed control module controls the driving speed of the vehicle according to the driving speed threshold value of the vehicle sent by the cloud platform server.
