Abstract We present a flow of data-processing system to obtain a chlorophyll map near the sea surafce from a CZCS CCT. It is emphasized that an atmospheric correction including multiple scattering of light is necessary for ocean color remote sensing. Consequently we propose a new algorithm to improve our atmospheric correction by taking account of multi-color data of CZCS. It is found that the chlorophyll map processed from NIMBUS-7 CZCS data by our procedure well represents the current stream of the ocean near Japan.
