Construction of Fowler wing which is fully extended for taking off and at reasonable altitude is drawn in, thus reducing air resistance and increasing speed; for landing it is extended while flying and lands with lower angle of attack; fullscale and wind-tunnel tests of aerodynamic properties; lateral control secured at stall; ability of wing to carry increased pay load.
