This chapter first describes the general schematic diagrams of spark‐ignition (SI) and diesel engine control. It then introduces a few control strategies to control the overvoltage protection unit (OVPU). The purpose of a vehicle's suspension system is to provide driving comfort and operating safety, through damping vertical oscillations of the vehicle and improving vehicle body and wheel/tire transient dynamics. Since an electric motor is the sole power source in a series hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) and an EV, the quality of the traction motor control significantly affects the vehicle's drivability and safety. In addition, compared with a conventional powertrain, the electric powertrain of an HEV/EV has superior dynamic behaviors such as a higher stalling torque and a faster transient response. The purpose of a vehicle's suspension system is to provide driving comfort and operating safety, through damping vertical oscillations of the vehicle and improving vehicle body and wheel/tire transient dynamics.
