This chapter provides an overview over the current launch market for small satellites, as well as over emerging trends such as the upcoming generation of microlaunchers that might significantly influence the launch market in the future. It covers topics such as launch sites, the different milestones from launch reservation to the checkout campaign, and the costs associated to the launch of a nanosatellite. Regarding the launch, there are several milestones of importance for a nanosatellite project. The first one is the launch contract signature, as it usually also determines a launch date. As a next step, the payload interface control documents (ICD) is prepared, which contains all technical agreements between satellite developers and the launcher or broker, a middleman between the two parties. The last step is the hardware delivery and, if applicable, the checkout campaign at the launch site.
