China‐Brazil Earth Resources Satellites (CBERS) program is a partnership agreement established in 1988 between Brazil and China for the development and operation of Earth observation satellites. The first satellite series, named CBERS 1&2, had 70% Chinese and 30% Brazilian investments. CBERS 3&4 are the second‐generation satellites, with a new investment division: 50% covered by each country. This chapter presents an overview of MUX Multispectral imager of CBERS 3&4 developed by Brazilian company Opto Eletrônica under the National Institute for Space Research (INPE) supervision. The MUX imager is the first high‐technology satellite payload completely developed and assembled in Brazil, therefore it constitutes a remarkable progress of Brazilian capability and skills in optical payloads for spaceborne remote sensing applications.
