In this paper, the resutls of analysis of reverse traveling of motorcycle are described together with the characteristics of its structure and of the control system of reverse system mounted on a mas-production model of motorcycle. Traveling of simulation and traveling experiments have been performed to comprehend the kinetic characteristics in reverse traveling of motorcycle in developing reverse system for motorcycle, and setting of an appropriate range of reverse traveling speed was made. Then in order that the vehicle speed be controlled within the range of such set speed, and electric motor has been chosen as the power source for its easy access in controlling, and it has been so decided that the motor is controlled by a micro-computer. The control also includes switching control of motor current, logical control that restricts reverse traveling and failsafe control.
