The mechanism of alumina deposition at the nozzle throat is studied on the motor firing tests and the experimental results. The depositing rate, critical temperature, depositing time and blowing-off time are presented as the characteristic parameters anlysing the deposition process. In this study the heat transfer model is established. It is an unsteady-state conduction problem which considered the composite wall constructed of different materials and the thickness of deposit layer varies with time. The numerical calculation analyszed the effects of the heat transfer coefficient, combustion temperature, thickness of the throat liner and depositing rate on the alumina deposition at the nozzle throat. The calculating results correspond with the experiments well.
