Until recently, the history of mankind has been associated with the Earth, therefore, basic scientific achievements in electromechanics dealt with Earth applications. Electromechanical converters operating in space have commensurate inertial moments of the armature and inductor (together with the mass of the space facility where the electric machine is installed). Therefore, both parts of the machine can move in space. In this case, the equations of electromechanical conversion of energy become complicated, coming to a more general form. Significant results have been achieved in the theory of multidimensional electromechanics; mathematical models can be constructed for a majority of cases of practical space electromechanics. This article addresses some options of creating space power plants.
