The availability of Ada packages that allow access to the facilities of MIL-STD-1553B bus interfaces is a recurring problem in - current and future -a avionic applications. Basically, the problem arises for each system where communication between computers is based on MIL-STD-1553B and the implementation language is Ada. Since MIL-STD-1553B defines the lower-level communication protocol it favours the definition and development of reusable input/output interfaces. This paper presents Ada packages for target-independent input/output via MIL bus interfaces.
