Dual clutch transmissions (DCTs) have a matured presence in today's automatic transmissions market. They have found application in a very wide variety of vehicles and over a wide range of engine torques while providing best fuel efficiency. Excellent comfort, high-shift dynamics and robust launch performance are the key attributes of a wet dual clutch transmission. Engine Start/Stop systems are becoming a standard feature in today's automobiles. This paper discusses the interaction of these systems with dual clutch systems based on tests, measurements, simulations, and analyses. This paper also explains a compact powertrain concept based on the architecture of a dual clutch transmission for a hybrid vehicle. The fuel efficiency and performance for this System are evaluated.
