The Prevent Group has its origins in Slovenia. In 1976 it became a supplier of car seat covers and by 1990 it was supplying more than one million seat covers annually. Today, the company is headquartered in Wolfsburg (D). From 2009 on, a series of acquisitions and expansions has subsequently seen the group rise to become a truly pan-European enterprise with over 10,000 employees at 35 manufacturing sites worldwide. One of the group's most significant purchases was that of Eybl International (Austria) in 2009. As of 2012, the enlarged Prevent group has four plants for manufacturing automotive interiors in Hungary, along with three for automotive seating in Bosnia, with others in Croatia, Romania, Russia, Morocco and Brazil. Eybl added 11 production sites to the Prevent Group, including the two in Austria, four in Hungary, two each in Romania and Slovakia as well as one site in Germany. Eybl's total weaving production capacity in Krems is put at 17.8 million metres. Eybl Prevent also has an annual 7.8 million running metres of circular knitting capacity, producing velours and single and double jersey fabrics. These are used in seat covers, rear shelf panels, headrests, door and side panels, roof and sunroof coverings and luggage space linings. The company's main finishing plant at Gmünd (A) now dyes an annual 1.5 million metres of fabrics, with the further finishing of three million metres. Of Prevent's 10,000 employees in 2012, 4,800 are employed in the labour-intensive field of automotive seat construction.
