The methods for a virtual tire evaluation procedure consist of several steps that lead to detailed description of the subjective-objective relation. The basis for that is provided by a systematic analysis of the subjective tire evaluation process, the definition of objective parameters and the specification of satisfactory vehicle behavior boundaries. The definition of substitute maneuvers and the determination of motion perception thresholds support this approach. After that, the identified relation between subjective evaluation and objective vehicle behavior comes down to a further understanding of the causal chain between driver's perception and vehicle handling. An application for virtual tire evaluation which can be used productively will be derived from these methods. This application will be based on tire test system data, virtual tire models, the full vehicle simulation and an automated evaluation procedure. With that, an integrated tire preselection in terms of vehicle handling will be made possible. In general, the objectification methods are limited to subjective evaluation criteria, for which it is possible to determine substitute maneuvers. In these substitute maneuvers, the vehicle response must be possible to determine unambiguously. With that, the object of evaluation is clearly defined and the subjective rating can be objectified. Beyond these methods for objectification of the subjective evaluation process, the procedure has to be extended on further chassis components in the future. An integrated chassis development primarily based on virtual methods remains the maximum future objective. However BMW vehicles are built to bring joy to the driver. That's why the driver's subjective evaluation always remains necessary for a final release.
