Active systems for noise reduction are especially of interest when considering applications in which low frequency noise is a main source of disturbance and only limited amounts of installation space and payload are available. In this paper the active attenuation of broadband acoustic disturbances in a light jet aircraft cabin is discussed. An approach to this problem is shown, considering various problems in design and choice of control method. Using acquired data from an in-flight measurement in a typical light jet, a noise control concept is developed using a multichannel modified filtered-x algorithm (mFxLMS). The ANC (Active Noise Control) system is designed and implemented in a light jet aircraft mock-up. Experimental results are presented, showing successful broadband reduction capabilities (up to 15dB, 50Hz < f < 500Hz) of a MIMO system for 4 seats in the mock-up cabin. Furthermore, considerations towards the implementation of a feedback control system for the target environment are discussed with respect to a global control scheme. The concept of a feedback broadband noise barrier is analyzed in a simplified mock-up.
