Measurement results of deformations of 100 gear wheels of the electric train's pull gear, made of 12KH2N4A steel grade, after thermal treatment are presented. It was shown that in real industrial welfare the cementation and hardening may result both considerable growth and substantial decrease of the wheel's diametrical sizes (more than 1.0 mm). Rim's form distortion in the form of ellipticity also occurs, which exceeds 1.0 mm for 10 % of wheels. Distributions of changed diameters of teeth's dents and the rim's ellipticity in view of histograms are presented. At a large teeth number (z = 73) the ellipticity due to a gear crown roundness deviation essential higher influences the allowance assignment at gear grinding than a diameter change.
