A way of modelling customer usage for fatigue life consideratins is discussed. Based on a parametric vehicle independend load model, parameters are estimated using measurement data. The variation of the parameter over the measurements is studied using analysis of variance. A general road classification is considered, which is compared to the effect of more local factors such as market and driver. Considerations in the design of experiments to gather data for the models are adressed. A case study with a vehicle independent description for lateral loads is presented. The analysis technique is applied using data from a field study.
