(continued from number 28(2007)3, page 377-383) In the first report, the combination of an azimuth angle feedback system with a vehicle having idealized response characteristics was investigated, and it was reported that by additionaly implementing yaw velocity feedback it is possible to increase the degree of freedom of control parameter settings, reduce driver's workload on long U-turns and improve cours following performance. In this second report, characteristics of the proposed system combined with a vehicle having actual response characteristics and the performance enhancements of such a system are described, as based on numerical simulation and simulator experiment results. The azimuth angle feedback steering system shows enhanced performance in the situation where quick steering action is necessary but it requires continuous steering angle increments during turning, which results in some additional workload on drivers. Introducing yaw velocity feedback into the system enables the system to reduce the steering wheel angle increments and the yaw velocity damping. As a result the system can reduce drivers' workload and improve course following performance. The performance of the system incorporated into a vehicle with actual response characteristics are evaluated multilaterally in this second report. The system with only azimuth angle feedback offered superior vehicle motion response and stability in numerical simulation to those of the conventional system under all conditions, but in simulator experiments, the tracking performance was inferior in one category, that of long U-turns. To improve this situation, a generalized azimuth angle feedback system, which used feedback gain of less than 1 and, additionally, yaw velocity as feedback, was studied. In order to clarify the behaviour of just the steering system, the study examined the influence that this system's four control parameters had on the motion of a vehicle with idealized response characteristics. In numerical simulations of the system combined with vehicles having actual response characteristics, it was confirmed that under all conditions, the system gave results equivalent or superior to those of the steering system with only azimuth angle feedback, owing to the control parameters selected as based on this knowledge.
