Nach langjähriger Entwicklung des Elektronischen Stellwerks (ESTW B950) der Firma Bombardier Transportation (Signal) Germany GmbH wurde vom Eisenbahn-Bundesamt die Typzulassung nach CENELEC für das Pilot-ESTW B950 Mannheim-Rheinau erteilt. Auf Basis dieser Typzulassung und den gesammelten Erfahrungen bei der Entwicklungsbegleitung durch DB Systemtechnik konnte eine Freigabeempfehlung an die DB Netz AG ausgesprochen werden. Am 26.3.06 nahm das erste Elektronische Stellwerk der Bauform Bombardier bei der Deutschen Bahn AG den Betrieb unter Sicherheitsverantwortung auf. Das ESTW B950 ist als 'Voll-ESTW' konzipiert, alle geforderten Funktionalitäten entsprechen den Lastenheften für das Elektronische Stellwerk der Deutsche Bahn AG und können im System realisiert werden.

After many years of development of the ESTW B950 electronic interlocking by Bomardier Transportation (Signal) Germany GmbH, type approval pursuant to CENELEC has been granted by the Federal Railway Authority (EBA) for the Mannheim-Rheinau pilot ESTW B950. On the basis of this type approval and the experience gained during DB Systemtechnik's accompanying the development, it was possiblke to give a release-for-employment recommendation to DB Netz AG. The first Bombardier type of electronic interlocking started operation with safety responsibility on Deutsche Bahn AG on 26th March 2006. The ESTW B950 is designed as a 'full-scale electronic interlocking' - all required functionalities comply with the product specifications for the Deutsche Bahn AG electronic interlocking and can be applied in the system.
