Electronic Speckle Interferometry (ESI) techniques find many applications in aerospace industry . Detection of debonds between the face sheet and the honeycomb core in the spacecraft honeycomb sandwich panels is important to assess the integrity of the spacecraft structure. The ESI techniques, because of their high displacement /slope sensitivity, are very much useful for Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) of honeycomb sandwich panels. The combined ESPI and ESSI system developed in house was used for the calibration and sensitivity studies for NDE of honeycomb sandwich panels. Debonds in the honeycomb panels were identified using dual vacuum stressing technique. The shear sensitivity of the ESI system was also checked with different shear values which is very useful for the NDE applications where the defect size plays an important role . Finally, a Twin Head ESSI System and the test set-up was developed and applied for the NDE of a typical spacecraft honeycomb sandwich panel (size : 400 mm x 800 mm) using a dual vacuum stressing technique.
