Transfer functions are used internationally for the assessment of air platforms that are required to fly through high intensity radiated field (HIRF) environments. These environments are expressed in the frequency domain in international standards. The same transfer functions can be used to predict the response of cable bundles to incident time domain environments. The time domain process is more mathematically complex than the simple extrapolation techniques used with HIRF environments and requires the construction of phase information before the prediction can be completed. This process is discussed in this paper along with suggestions for improvements of the currently used technique. These improvements include binding the prediction between a worst-case and best-case induced current as a result of the incident time domain environment.
