For years, the performance of headlamps has been displayed and analyzed in screen data that shows isolux or isocandela lines. With the introduction of new measuring parameters a headlamp light distribution is better and more comprehensively described than by just using measuring points. The proposed methods described in this paper only concentrate on easy reproducible parameters and measurable values as (m, m2, lx/cd, lumen, degree). The readings of the results show an easy rating: the higher the value, the better the performance of the headlamp. The complete overview about the proposed methods in the paper presented is given. Performance in terms of safety and comfort leads to a better understanding of the quality of a headlamp light distribution. It is shown that with small additional efforts the boundary conditions can be described to find a more precise, concise and realistic way to describe the performance properties of any headlamp.
