The paper presents the results of continuous investigations of the coupling mechanism in friction wheels. A ubstantial variation of the mechanism is being presented. The modification consists in the fact that the rolling point is subject to displacement not only along the common generatrix of the friction wheels, but also in the direction perpendicular to it. The deviation of the rolling point, thus defined, is proportional to the sliding velocity along the common generatrix of the wheels. The phenomenon is associated, for instance, with the changing of ratio in variable ratio transmissions. The knowledge of the deviation of the rolling point is useful in the determination of the ratio regulation force and other parameters of friction transmissions. It gives also-to the great extend-the reasons of their low reliability. Conclusions concerning the problem in question are presented.
