By combining different numerical methods, an overall computation program capable of simulating an external flow around a nacelle or over an afterbody of a by-pass engine is obtained. However, some of the methods used are subject to fairly strict geometrical or aerodynamic limitations. Therefore, we had to entirely reconsider the transonic flow problem capable to perform a calculation in the infinite atmosphere or between two walls, and to be combined with the overall program. To do this, we solve a complete stream function equation through a finite difference method. The selection of the stream function allows to develop the calculation of free stream lines, isobaric or not. (Peters)
