An efficient procedure, which may be adapted to pocket calculators, has been developed to determine the geometry of minimum induced loss propellers matched to a specified operating point characterized by disc loading, advance ratio, and number of blades. Consistent procedures are described to account for the effects of arbitrary geometry, off design point operation, and propeller-body interaction. These procedures are utilized by George Succi in a companion paper on the design of quiet propellers. (Wassmann)
