Abstract This study focuses on the improvement of construction safety based on information technology which can support perception. The objective of this study is to comprehensively identify the IT application areas for perception enhancement to improve construction safety based on the investigation of tasks for construction safety from the viewpoint of human factors regarding perception. The comprehensive identification reveals that 6 out of the 23 classified danger elements may potentially benefit from perception enhancement on the improvement of construction safety. The comprehensive identification rationalizes the areas for perception enhancement that should have a higher likelihood of success in their application to improve construction safety.
