For the heterogeneous bistatic synthetic aperture radar (SAR) system, such as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and an aircraft, high-resolution imaging of the target scene is needed for aircraft guidance. To study the forward-looking imaging capabilities of different speed heterogeneous bi-static SAR platforms, this paper gives the basic theory of two-dimension SAR imaging at the beginning. Then resorting to the distribution of the distance contours and the Doppler contours, and the theoretical resolution, the forward-looking imaging capability of different speed platforms is analyzed in detail. Finally, the velocity constraints of the UAV and aircraft are discussed in the simulation. Meanwhile, the Doppler resolution is analyzed in detail, which is also verified in the simulation.
