Train safety is greatly affected by the vehicle equilibrium calculation. Firstly, this paper discusses the physical structure of the vehicle and analyzes the derivative process of calculation formulas, which are deduced by force balance and moment balance. Secondly, based on the software structure design of three-tier architecture, the detailed requirement analysis and software design of vehicle equilibrium calculation system are carried out. Finally, the engineering verification is carried out with the actual data of vehicle, and the difference between the calculated results and the actual measurement results is within a reasonable range. The system can realize mass equilibrium calculation of rail vehicles, manage vehicle data effectively, and improve the efficiency of actual calculation. The software system has already been applied in a rail vehicle designing department of a company and will be a good value of engineering application.
