Abstract The work was dedicated to the topic of “bike-sharing systems”, or short-term bicycle rentals, available in modern and smart cities. The aim of the article is to present how travel databases can facilitate management and development of bike-sharing solutions. The article is based on a case study of a bike-sharing system in Budapest. The article also includes a statistical analysis based on data collected in 2017 and 2018. Research results on travelling in specific years enable, among others, to predict seasonal changes, as well as determine the attractiveness of individual docking stations. The article contains selected research results in this area.
