An automotive transverse transmission is articulated by mechanisms called constant velocity joints (CVJ). The joint allows the suspension to move freely. Its frictional behavior is not well known. However, the CVJ functional analysis makes it possible to identify important mechanical losses due to the friction of component elements. This article will focus on tripod side. An analysis of its behavior by designing and constructing a rig in order to qualify the sliding inside of the tulip between tracks and rollers has been initiated. Thanks to three-dimensional (3D) printing and sport camera a new approach was established.
