The report presents a first year assessment of the performance of the high-occupancy vehicle facility which was implemented on the Katy Freeway (I-10W) in Houston, Texas. The facility is described, and data from the first year of operation are presented and analyzed. The data presented include park-and-ride demands, travel time changes, vehicle and passenger flow rates, accident experiences, and various transitway operating experiences. Before and after implementation comparisons are evaluated, and projected facility benefits and costs are provided.
