It has been determined through a CIPP study that Interstate 484 between Interstate Routes 84 and 91 in Hartford is a necessary link in the area highway network, since Interstate 84 cannot handle the traffic desires through the core area of Hartford. The construction of this highway project would result in a positive environmental impact since more land will be provided for park purposes than that presently existing. An adverse effect which can not be avoided would be the temporary disruption of activities within portions of Bushnell Park during construction. The disruption of traffic patterns because of the construction will also be unavoidable. The effect of property taking will result in the displacement of approximately five residential units and about 55 commercial units and is unavoidable. Construction of Interstate 484 may result in slight increases in air pollution in Bushnell Park itself.
