In order to reduce the loads at major commercial airports, the document recommends the development of primary and secondary general aviation airports. This greater airport specialization would improve service during peak hours and avoid excessive costs. The primary general aviation facilities would have runways 5000-6000 feet in length. The secondary ports would have 3000 paved feet in runway. Briefly analyzed are the present and future conditions of the general aviation picture. Current traffic volumes, finance and administration and current demand vs. capacity are discussed. Two or three pages are devoted to future projections. Appendices dealing with facility classification and purpose of flight are included, as well as specific area data. (Author)
