This purpose of these actions are to ensure safe year-round long-term transportation and communication capabilities between North and South Vandenberg AFB. Vandenberg AFB is headquarters for the 30th Space Wing. The Air Force's primary missions at Vandenberg AFB are to launch and track satellites in space, to test and evaluate America's intercontinental ballistic missile systems, and support aircraft operations in the Western Range. As a non-military facet of operations, Vandenberg AFB is also committed to promoting commercial space launch ventures.
