Condition monitoring on its own does not provide many benefits in terms of lowering costs of operating aircraft. However, utilising condition monitoring within the predictive service chain opens up many benefits to maintainers of equipments such as Gas Turbines, Engines and other rotating machinery. This paper describes our experiences in each phase of the predictive service chain taking real life examples from the military and commercial aircraft airborne domains. We have also experience in other domains, such as transportation, helicopters, nuclear gas turbines, which are equally as applicable to the principles of condition monitoring. (6 pages)
