Under current conditions, prompt and consistent steps are required to reduce energy consumption in the transport sector and increase the sustainability of transport infrastructure. Since the share of environmentally friendly vehicles is growing relatively slowly, additional efforts are required to reduce the fuel consumption of the existing vehicle fleet. The article uses a method for assessing road infrastructure from the point of view of the rationality of installation sites for road signs, provides theoretical background, conducts road tests and analyzes the results obtained in comparison with existing best practices. The method under consideration was analyzed using initial data obtained from transport detectors and telematic surveillance data. The study showed that eco-driving methods have a good effect on fuel economy only with rationally designed road infrastructure. The method is applicable for adjusting the installation locations of road signs when analyzing the reasons for increased energy consumption of transport.
