Experimental model tests were conducted at a scale of 1:1 (model to prototype) to define the static differential heads and dynamic (wave action) load limits beyond which selected existing Corps designs of expedient levee-raising structures will fail. Besides the existing designs, new concepts, submitted by various divisions and districts, were considered for testing as time and funding allowed. Several designs, including 13 existing designs, 5 modified existing designs, and 4 new design concepts were tested and found to have varying degrees of success and failure under static head and wave action loadings.
